This service is operated by Know Your Risk NZ (knowyourrisk.co.nz). We provide instant property hazard information for addresses in Auckland, New Zealand, using publicly available data from Auckland Council, LINZ, and other government sources.

Know Your Risk NZ is an independent property information service. We are not affiliated with Auckland Council, LINZ, or any government body.

2. What We Do With Your Property Searches

When you search an address on our site, we use it solely to query public hazard datasets and generate your report.

  • We do not share searched addresses with any third party for marketing purposes.
  • We do not build profiles based on your searches.
  • Free preview searches are not stored against your identity.
  • If you purchase a report, the address is stored only for the purpose of delivering your report and providing customer support.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information when you use our service:

  • Address searches: The property addresses you enter to generate reports, used solely for report generation and delivery.
  • Payment information: If you purchase a report, payment is processed securely through Stripe. We do not see, store, or have access to your card details at any point. All payment data is handled entirely by Stripe.
  • Email address: If you contact us or provide an email for report delivery.
  • Usage data: Anonymised analytics such as page views, browser type, and general location (country/region) to help us improve the service. We use Google Analytics and Meta Pixel for this purpose. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Cookies: We use essential cookies to operate the site and analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the service. You can disable cookies in your browser settings.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate and deliver property hazard reports you request.
  • To process payments securely via Stripe.
  • To respond to enquiries sent through our contact form or email.
  • To improve and maintain the functionality of the service.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your address searches for any purpose other than generating your report.

5. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate this service:

  • Stripe — payment processing. We never see or store your card details. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Supabase — database and backend services.
  • Mapbox / LINZ Basemaps — mapping data and aerial imagery.
  • Auckland Council, LINZ, GNS Science, NIWA — public hazard datasets.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Google Analytics — anonymised website usage analytics.
  • Meta Pixel — anonymised ad performance tracking.

Each of these providers has their own privacy policies governing how they handle data.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security certification. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights (NZ Privacy Act 2020)

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of any inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your information where we no longer have a lawful basis to retain it.
